eBay Sidebar Tool for 64 bit Users

Introduction

This information should help Windows Vista x64 Users

 

We have been contacted by many users with regards to using eBay Sidebar Tool on Vista x64.

Users have been unable to view their Bidding and Watching lists with Vista x64, this is due to Registry Permissions under the 64 bit environment.

The eBay Sidebar Tool Version 2.2 or later includes a fix for this problem but, due to the same registry permissions, is unable to install our ActiveX Control which includes Popup Notifications and Right Click Menu Options.

To Fix this Problem we have created a .msi Installer file for our ActiveX Control and we are currently waiting for our good friend, Marc Spillman, to test this Installer on his x64 system and get back to us with the results.

If our ActiveX Control Installer doesn't work on x64 we will continue to try and find a fix for this problem as soon as possible.

You can also manually register our ActiveX Controll with the following steps

  1. Run Command Prompt as an Administrator from the right click menu.
  2. Type (or copy and paste) the following command then press Return:

    cd %Userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\eBaySidebarTool.gadget\include
  3. Type (or copy and paste) the following command then press Return:

    regsvr32 ebaystx.dll
  4. You should see a message which says the file has been Registered Sucessfully.
  5. Restart the eBay Sidebar Tool Gadget.
  6. Let us know if the ActiveX Control doesn't work on Vista x64.
